Gobi Beast, real name Khololwethu Gobizembe: is a Rapper / Music Director / Producer / Event Organizer / Video editor… from Rustenburg in the North West Province – originally born in 1989. Gobi started rapping in 2004, working closely with a group named “DPK” from Luka in Rustenburg and around 2009 – was very fresh from out of matric. He started producing music under the watchful eye of Toxic Medaphores, his production skills earned him more respect in the streets of Thabazimbi in the North West Province.
He later moved back to Rustenburg where he started working with all the established musicians in the area (i.e. Skinny Gibbz, Les Modiri, Huge Da Oracle, HBP, YHP (Yellow Hood Productions), YHE, especially working on Gopzvilla’s mixtape Broken Bottles, which kick-started the mainstream mixtape culture in the area and many other projects followed. In 2014 he was nominated in the top 10 of Back To The City Producers 10K Competition, against the likes of Towdie Mac & Phyzix
Gobi later joined forces with his long time friend, King 87 to form a duo/label named Eigh8 7even Ent, during this time they enjoyed sharing the stage with the likes of CassperNyovest (Noord Park), K.O. (City Jive), Tuks Senganga (Rustenburg Show Grounds), Mo Molemi (Rustenburg Show Grounds) etc. He currently runs a company named Undermerxial Music Group with a few silent partners, he looks after artists Tebza Lesouljah, Illtoxin, Mic Prophecy, DaffoDil & DJ Kamoola and is a founding member of 014Mation Nation & Goblinz&Villainz
